EDNA MAY PATERSON May 14, 1926 - May 6, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edna Paterson, peacefully with her family by her side, at Riverview Health Centre. Edna was predeceased by her husband Alex, her parents, two sisters and three brothers. Left to cherish her memory are her children Tom, Val (Marcy), Ken (Marj), Don (Joan) and Cheryl (Ken); grandchildren Dustin, Lee, Dina (Jordan), Sean and Ryan, and great-grandchild Kiedis as well as her sister Chris and extended family and friends. Mom was born in Winnipeg and grew up as a city girl in Elmwood, but soon learned to love the farm with Dad in Headingley, raising five children and participating in the family greenhouse operation, where she continued to reside for over 60 years. She enjoyed traveling with Dad to Hawaii, Florida, Las Vegas as well as other places before becoming snow birds in Arizona and making many friends. In later years she enjoyed traveling with her sister Chris. Edna was an active member of the Headingley seniors and 55 groups, making many friends. She was known as kind and generous with a very positive attitude by family and her close friends that she often went out to lunch or the casino with. One of Mom's greatest joys was welcoming her family and friends, enjoying many hours of fun around the dinner table and the pool, her door was always open. Edna will be sorely missed by all of us. WE LOVE YOU MOM / GRANDMA A Service of Remembrance will take place on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. The family would like to thank the homecare team and staff at Riverview for their compassionate care.
